I’m passionate about telling business stories. Whether writing an article for publications such as the Financial Times or helping a client extract and capture its story, I bring my curiosity and unique outsider point-of-view to every project. I’m not so interested in business plans and exit strategies; I like to make business and entrepreneurship gettable, by telling interesting stories about interesting people. I have spoken at events ranging from South By South West Interactive in Austin, Texas to ‘Meet The Innovators’ at The Apple Store in London.

My current project portfolio encompasses three key areas:

  1. Capturing and telling business stories: An organisation’s story is valuable not only as a marketing tool but also as a cultural touchstone. I help organisations extract, capture and communicate their story, values and thought leadership.

  2. Outsider/ advisor: I bring my insight and fresh perspective to advise businesses on growth opportunities, shining light into unexplored corners. In 2013 I worked with the Silicon Valley design firm Duarte Inc, advising CEO Nancy Duarte on market opportunities in Europe. This year I’ve been advising a London design agency on its growth potential.

  3. Business writer: From 2012-2014 I was a contributing writer to The Financial Times ‘Business Life’ pages. I currently write for British Airways Business Life magazine, Ireland’s Sunday Independent and contribute to Monocle magazine’s radio channel, Monocle 24.

With over twenty years' experience in the creative industries - running projects, making ideas happen, starting businesses - I have a rich network of contacts on both sides of the Atlantic. I am author of ‘Leap! Ditch Your Job Start Your Own Business & Set Yourself Free’ (Capstone/ Wiley), ‘Juggle! Rethink Work, Reclaim Your Life’ (Capstone/ Wiley), ‘Zoom! The Faster Way To Make Your Business Idea Happen’ (Financial Times Prentice Hall) and ‘Mash-Up! How to Use Your Multiple Skills to Give You an Edge, Make Money and Be Happier’ (Kogan Page).

I’m based in England, and work with clients anywhere and everywhere. I tend to be driven by curiosity and damn good coffee.
