Take the slow route

This morning I decided to swap the tube for the river-bus, taking the slow route to my meeting.

Early on in my career I was always in such a rush. Trying to squeeze opportunities out of every waking hour. Dashing to get to meetings on time. I never had any time for ‘me.’

Nowadays I like to take my time and this morning’s boat trip along the Thames was a reminder of the upsides of taking the slow route. The boat was pretty deserted, with plenty of available seats inside and outside. I really enjoyed seeing the city from a different angle as we headed west. Plenty of opportunity for daydreaming and reflection. It put me in a totally different mindset than if I’d taken the busy tube.

The fast way isn’t always the best way.
